MobileIron: We’re making history by making passwords history

making passwords history

Mobile doesn’t just drive global enterprise; it occupies the center of our personal universe.

For those of us old enough to remember life before smartphones, can you imagine how you would do without them now? Many of us rely on our phones and mobile apps for just about everything — work, play, life. Given how fast mobile technology is evolving (the performance gains of 5G are just one example), it’s clear that we’re going to be living in a hyper-cloud-connected world for years to come.

It’s a world where more and more of our most valuable data — personal, financial, and business — will be instantly available from any device, on any network. It’s a reality that is extremely empowering — and also terrifying if this data falls into the wrong hands.

With the rapid evolution of mobile empowerment, why does mobile security still heavily rely on passwords, which are essentially from the Stone Age of Information Technology? According to Gartner, spending on information security and risk management is estimated to reach $174.5 billion by 2022, and yet two-thirds of enterprises are breached every year.

Surely we can do better than this. It’s time for mobile security to make an evolutionary leap beyond password-based authentication.

Today, with the announcement of our zero sign-on solution, MobileIron is paving a new path forward for enterprise security. One that’s based on the industry’s first mobile-centric, zero trust security framework. It doesn’t just eliminate passwords, it goes beyond identity and gateway-based security approaches to give you complete control over all of your business data as it flows across devices, apps, networks, and cloud services. This means you can grant or deny access to your data based on a full range of security attributes.

More importantly, it means you’re no longer at the mercy of compromised passwords or incomplete security solutions.

With MobileIron, your device becomes your ID and secure access to the enterprise. This allows your users to access any app or service from any location or device. All without the hassle and security vulnerabilities of passwords. Because with zero sign-on from MobileIron, passwords are history.
