MobileIron is introducing a simplified and high value licensing strategy making it possible for IT to secure any device, for any user, on any app, using one platform while protecting data across today's Everywhere Enterprise. Effective July 1, 2020, MobileIron is introducing two new SKUs that have increased capabilities, eliminate licensing complexity, make it easier to transact and reduce the need for too many add-ons, while allowing the choice of on-premise or cloud options. MobileIron Secure UEM (SUEM) allows IT admins a single platform to streamline device management for iOS, Android, MacOS and Windows devices for all users. MobileIron Secure UEM Premium (SUEMP) has all the capabilities of Secure UEM and adds enterprise grade security allowing secure access to cloud and on-premise applications, conditional access for managed and unmanaged devices, app customization and the ability to get started with passwordless MFA. MobileIron will also stop selling existing UEM and Access bundles on January 1, 2021.

 

  • What are the new UEM SKUs? 

    The new UEM SKUs are: MobileIron Secure UEM and MobileIron Secure UEM Premium.

    • MI-SUEM – MobileIron Secure Unified Endpoint Management
    • MI-SUEMP – MobileIron Secure Unified Endpoint Management Premium
  • What does Secure UEM SKU provide? 

    MobileIron Secure UEM allows IT admins a single platform to streamline device management for iOS, Android, MacOS and Windows devices for all users. MobileIron Threat Defense (MTD) will continue to be available to detect and remediate against mobile phishing and attacks as an add-on option.

    • What does Premium Secure UEM SKU provide? 

      MobileIron Secure UEM Premium has all the capabilities of Secure UEM and adds enterprise grade security allowing secure access to cloud and on-premise applications, conditional access for managed and unmanaged devices, app customization and the ability to get started with passwordless MFA. This SKU delivers superior user authentication experience, fewer password reset help desk calls and reduces the likelihood of breaches. There are two add-on options to this premium SKU, viz., MobileIron Threat Defense (MTD) to detect and remediate against mobile phishing and attacks and Zero Sign-On(ZSO) to provide passwordless authentication to SaaS applications.

      • What is the new Zero Sign-on (ZSO) SKUs? 

        MobileIron is also introducing one new SKU for Zero Sign-On which enables passwordless multi-factor authentication.

        • What does ZSO SKU provide? 

          ZSO allows passwordless multi-factor authentication for an unlimited number of apps.

          • Are you eliminating current SKUs? 

            Yes. As of January 1, 2021 the current Silver, Gold and Platinum UEM licensing and MobileIron Access packages will be discontinued. i.e., the following SKUs

            • MI-EMS – MobileIron Enterprise Mobility Management Silver Bundle (UEM Silver)
            • MI-EMG – MobileIron Enterprise Mobility Management Gold Bundle (UEM Gold)
            • MI-EMP – MobileIron Enterprise Mobility Management Platinum Bundle (UEM Platinum)
            • MI-ACCESS – MobileIron Access
          • Who are these changes applicable to? 

            This is applicable to existing MobileIron customers currently with licenses for MobileIron’s UEM and MobileIron Access.

            • Is there per user and per device licensing options? 

              • The two new UEM bundles, MI-SUEM and MI-SUEMP bundles are available on per-user and per-device licensing
              • The new ZSO SKU, MI-ZSO is available on per-user licensing only
              • “Per-user” licensing will now include five (5) devices.
            • Are these available on Cloud and On-premises? 

              • The two new UEM bundles, The MI-SUEM and MI-SUEMP bundles are available on cloud and on-premises.
              • The new ZSO SKU, MI-ZSO will be available on cloud only
            • Are there add-on options for the Secure UEM SKU? 

              Yes. There are two add-on options to this SKU, viz., MobileIron Threat Defense (MTD). MobileIron Threat Defense (MTD) is available as MTD, MTD Premium to detect and remediate against mobile phishing and attacks.

              • Are there add-on options for the Secure UEM Premium SKU? 

                Yes. There are two add-on options to this premium SKU, viz., MobileIron Threat Defense (MTD) and passwordless MFA, Zero Sign-On(ZSO). MobileIron Threat Defense (MTD) is available as MTD, MTD Premium to detect and remediate against mobile phishing and attacks.

                • I am currently on the Silver/Gold/Platinum bundle, how am I affected? 

                  • If you do not intend to expand your user/device license and if you are under an active maintenance contract, then you are unaffected.
                  • If you do intend to expand your user/device licenses starting January 1, 2020 you will need to adopt the new licensing.
                • If I am on Silver, what are my migration options? 

                  A customer currently on Silver can migrate to Secure UEM or Secure UEM Premium. We recommend that you migrate to Secure UEM Premium for enterprise grade security allowing secure access to cloud and on-premise applications, conditional access for managed and unmanaged devices, app customization and the ability to get started with passwordless MFA. You gain superior user authentication experience, fewer password reset help desk calls and reduces the likelihood of breaches.

                  • If I am on Gold, what are my migration options? 

                    Your migration path is to the Secure UEM Premium SKU. We recommend that you migrate to Premium Secure UEM for enterprise grade security allowing secure access to cloud and on-premise applications, conditional access for managed and unmanaged devices, app customization and the ability to get started with passwordless MFA. You gain superior user authentication experience, fewer password reset help desk calls and reduces the likelihood of breaches.

                    If you are using our productivity apps such as Email+, Docs@Work, Web@Work and any AppConnect based apps you must migrate to Secure UEM Premium to continue experiencing the capabilities of our UEM platform.

                    • If I am on Platinum, what are my migration options? 

                      Platinum customers should migrate to Premium Secure UEM. In addition to all the capabilities in the Platinum bundle, you hain conditional access for managed and unmanaged devices, and the ability to get started with passwordless MFA. You gain superior user authentication experience, fewer password reset help desk calls and reduces the likelihood of breaches.

                      We recommend that you add ZSO to gain passwordless authentication experience for all your apps.

                      • Which bundle do I need to deploy MAM only or AppStation? 

                        The “Secure UEM” bundle includes entitlement for AppStation. If your environment uses AppConnect related Apps, you need to adopt “ Secure UEM Premium”. See the “What is in the UEM SKUs” for additional details.

                        • What is in the UEM SKUs? 

                          Please refer to mobileIron.com/pricing

                          • Can I add more users/devices now? 

                            • Yes. Until January 1st, you can add more users/devices under your current licensing terms.
                            • Starting January 1, 2021 you can add more users/devices under the new licensing only.
                          • Can I expand my user/device seats on/after January 1, 2021? 

                            Yes. Starting January 1, 2021, you can add users/devices under the new licensing only.

                            • Who should I contact to expand my current users/device licenses? 

                              If you need to expand user/device count, please reach out to your sales executive at your earliest convenience and before January 1, 2021.

                              • Is there a change in maintenance fees? 

                                There is no change to MobileIron maintenance due to the introduction of new licensing.

                                • Will elimination of Silver, Gold, Platinum, Access licensing take effect globally? 

                                  Yes, this is effective in all geographies starting January 1, 2021.

                                  • What happens to the current Education price list? 

                                    The current Education price list which is tied to the Silver, Gold and Platinum bundles will also be EOLed on January 1, 2021.

                                    • Is there a new Education price list? 

                                      No, there will not be a separate Education price list. Deal Desk will handle the Education discount structure.

                                        MobileIron continues its transformation towards a SaaS company: Eliminates Perpetual Licensing

                                        Effective July 1, 2020, MobileIron’s on-premise software will be available exclusively through subscription licenses. With this change, all MobileIron software and SaaS solutions, including both MobileIron Core and MobileIron Cloud, will be available only on a subscription basis. We recommend that you refer to the frequently asked questions below before reaching out to your MobileIron sales executive.

                                         

                                        • What are the key changes? 

                                          • MobileIron is eliminating perpetual licensing for MobileIron’s on-premise software solutions effective July 1, 2020. i.e., MobileIron will no longer sell new perpetual licenses effective July 1, 2020
                                          • Effective July 1, 2020, MobileIron’s on-premise software will be available only under subscription licensing. MobileIron SaaS solutions will continue to be offered only on a subscription basis as well.
                                        • Who is this applicable to? 

                                          • This affects only MobileIron customers currently with licenses for MobileIron’s on-premise software solutions.

                                           

                                        • Why are you eliminating perpetual pricing? 

                                          • An overwhelming majority of our customers have indicated a preference for subscription as the primary licensing model because of its convenience, greater flexibility in purchasing, and better ROI.

                                           

                                        • What are the benefits of subscription licensing? 

                                          There are several key benefits of our subscription pricing:

                                          • Easy to understand, procure and transact
                                          • Includes maintenance and support without the need to purchase a separate maintenance and support contract
                                          • Software updates are included with your subscription, helping you to always stay current with the latest capabilities and ahead of potential threats

                                           

                                        • I am currently on on-premises perpetual licensing, how am I affected? 

                                          • If you do not intend to expand your user/device license and if you are under active maintenance contract, then you are unaffected.
                                          • If you do intend to expand your user/device licenses, you will be able to expand using on-premise MobileIron Core subscription licenses.

                                           

                                        • Can I add more users/devices under perpetual licensing? 

                                          • Yes, until June 30th.
                                          • Starting July 1st, you can add more users/devices under subscription licensing only.

                                           

                                        • Can I expand my user/device seats on/after July 1, 2020? 

                                          • Yes. Starting July 1, 2020, you can add user/devices under subscription licensing only.

                                           

                                        • Who should I contact to expand my users/device licenses? 

                                          • As perpetual licensing for MobileIron’s on-premise software solutions will not be available starting on July 1, 2020, if you need to expand user/device count, please reach out to your sales executive at your earliest convenience and before June 30, 2020.

                                           

                                        • Is there a change in maintenance fees? 

                                          • There is no change to MobileIron maintenance due to elimination of perpetual licensing.

                                           

                                        • Will there be any change to the MobileIron subscription pricing?

                                          • Not at this point in time.
