MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Nov. 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- For Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, a regional strand of the UK's National Health Service, secure mobile access to patient data is imperative to providing healthcare to a growing and ageing population. Oxford Health's new mobility strategy replaces laptops and BlackBerry devices with more user-friendly iPads and provides nearly 3,000 clinicians, managers, and executives with secure access to patient information via iOS devices secured by MobileIron.

"We analyzed the leading enterprise mobility management (EMM) providers and chose MobileIron for its ease of use, flexibility, and reasonable cost," said Mark Walker, Head of IT, Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust. "We're highly risk-averse when it comes to patient data. MobileIron helps us keep sensitive data secure without hindering the user experience for our clinicians throughout the counties we service."

Boosting productivity
With MobileIron Apps@Work, Oxford Health can easily and securely provide employees with custom-built applications like CareNotes Mobile, which allows for secure access and automated uploading of patient notes. Another new application guides clinicians on best practices for discussing sensitive information during visits, which could improve patient outcomes.

"Laptops got in the way of our clinicians' efforts to spend less time on administration and more time with patients. With MobileIron, our clinicians can now seamlessly take notes on their iPads as they work. We've eliminated a major barrier to their productivity," said Walker.

Greater patient care
Increased mobility enables mental health clinicians to use applications such as Skype or FaceTime to carry out long-distance counseling. As well as reducing travel costs, mobile patient care also means that clinicians can reach a greater number of patients.

"Now that we've deployed 3,000 secure iPads with MobileIron, the sky's the limit for our mobile strategy. There are no constraints to the ways we can deliver apps that boost clinicians' efficiency and enable better patient outcomes," said Walker.
