Bol.com is the leading online retailer in the Netherlands and Belgium. Their portfolio offers an average of 15 million items for 7 million customers. Since 2012, the company has been owned by Ahold Delhaize. Bol.com has earned multiple consumer awards, for example the “Best Web Store of the Netherlands in 2016,” "Best webshop of Belgium 2015-2016," and the consumer award for “Best Online Shopping Centre 2016.”
Bol.com currently employs 1200 people at the office in Utrecht in the Netherlands. Many of these employees also work outside of the office, so the ability to secure business apps and data on mobile devices is a top priority.
To support its future mobility goals and stay ahead of the competition, bol.com evaluated the leading enterprise mobility management (EMM) platforms, and MobileIron quickly emerged as the top choice. As its implementation partner, bol.com chose MobileIron partner BLAUD for their expertise in the setup, configuration, support, and ongoing management of the MobileIron platform.
Secure mobile productivity with MobileIron
Providing secure email and secure access to documents on shared folders and to internal web applications on iOS or Android devices, whether corporate-owned or employee-owned, was a critical requirement. To secure corporate email bol.com uses native email for iOS devices and provides the choice between Email+ from MobileIron and native email for Android devices.
”Secure apps and data are critical to us,” said Gerard Abma, manager IT Office Automation at bol.com.”With MobileIron, we have the confidence of knowing that our apps and data are secure on every mobile device we manage. If an employee leaves the company, or if a device is ever lost or stolen, we can wipe all the apps and data from that device to ensure that data doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.”
”We prefer to use Email+ for Android devices because it’s more stable and easier to manage than native Android email apps,” said Gerard.
Mobile access to web applications
Bol.com also relies on MobileIron Web@Work to manage wiki information. Both IT staff and business employees can securely access relevant information via mobile devices. As a result, staff no longer has to rely on a desktop workstation or laptop to securely access information.
”With MobileIron, we have been able to meet our most important mobility goals right away. Our teams can work seamlessly on any corporate-owned or employee-owned device with secure email, mobile productivity apps, and content. We also have peace of mind knowing we can wipe sensitive information from lost or stolen devices,” said Abma. ”We are looking forward to implementing the next phase of our mobility plan with MobileIron.”
