Once again, we are excited to announce that another new release of MobileIron’s cloud-based enterprise mobility management (EMM) solution has been deployed on our global cloud clusters. Let me quickly share with you some of the new features we’ve introduced in this most recent update!
Audit Trails: Who? What? When?
Often a requirement of heavily regulated industries such as healthcare, financial services, government, and manufacturing, new Audit Trails captures a chronological set of records detailing the activities performed on all entities within MobileIron Cloud—including by admins, end-users, and various components of the system itself. Using Audit Trails, administrators can troubleshoot issues faster and more accurately and can retain a record of all the activities performed by admins, end users, and the MobileIron Cloud system itself. Today, Audit Trails are recorded for the following activities: device addition, device retire, device wipe, device deletion, change of device owner, and creation/deletion/update of user settings (e.g., device registration, device limit, and terms of service settings). Also important to note is that MobileIron Cloud Audit Trails enable admins to see both the before change and after change values, which is an additional level of detail admins will find useful.
Windows 10 BitLocker Drives Encryption
When leveraging a combined MobileIron Cloud and MobileIron Bridge solution, admins can now use BitLocker to encrypt and recover data from Windows 10 mobile devices, and desktops. BitLocker provides encryption for entire volumes, and when using it, admins can:
- Select from different Trusted Platform Module (TPM) settings to enable hardware-based encryption
- Select from a variety of recovery options
- Control the restart behavior of devices that have been encrypted using BitLocker
Android enterprise Device Accounts
MobileIron Cloud now allows for corporate-owned, single-use (COSU) deployments with large numbers of devices to be assigned to a single user. Admins can use service accounts (not tied to a single user) to bulk enroll Android devices in Device Owner mode. The primary benefit here is time savings because Admins are no longer forced to create individual user accounts for each device. It’s worth noting that these devices are often targeted for Kiosk mode, and users typically do not require Google Play access.
Quarantine Compliance Action with Allowed Apps
We’ve added a new feature to the MobileIron Cloud admin portal that enables admins to quarantine devices that have fallen out of compliance based upon the detection of unapproved apps. The ability to quarantine and prevent access to corporate resources helps to prevent the introduction and proliferation of malicious apps.
