Sticky and Secure: Android Marshmallow

At the Google I/O 2015 conference in May, Google shared its vision for the next iteration of their mobile operating system, Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The security and enterprise focus that was introduced with Android 5.0 Lollipop and followed on by Android for Work clearly continues with Marshmallow.

MobileIron is excited about the sticky goodness that comes with Marshmallow and is compatible with devices running Android M. Improvements to security and privacy for apps, fingerprint sensor support, and enhancements to the Android for Work platform are some of the key features that enterprise customers will want to leverage within their mobile environments.

During the September Press Event, Google showcased the final release of Marshmallow and stated it would be made available earlier this month for existing Nexus 5, 6, 7, and 9 devices. The newly announced Nexus 5X and 6P will ship with Marshmallow and several Google hardware partners have committed to supporting Android M in the coming months.

Marshmallow devices will be entering the market over time and MobileIron is excited to see a growing number of customers embrace Android within the enterprise. To learn more about security considerations for Android and to understand how Android for Work can meet the standards of regulations such as HIPAA, HITECH, HIT, and PCI for mobile transactions, take a look at the following white paper.
