Apple's App Store offers a wealth of mobile business apps. The App Store Volume Purchase Program (VPP) allows enterprises to purchase these apps in bulk. Participating organizations receive tokens to distribute to their employees, who then use those tokens to purchase apps without any out-of-pocket expense.

Token Control
MobileIron automatically applies the token to the account of the users for whom the app is intended. The users never deal directly with the token so there is no chance of it being lost or worse, being sent to someone else. When the users log into MobileIron’s Enterprise App Storefront, they see the recommended app and an icon that tells them the app is pre-paid. At that point, all the users need to do is tap to install it.
Security
MobileIron secures the distribution of apps by authenticating the security state of the device as well as the identity of the user. By tying app distribution to mobile device management, MobileIron ensures that only authorized people using secure devices will be able to see and install the pre-paid apps.
Inventory
MobileIron also makes it easy for IT to keep track of purchases and token inventory. MobileIron tracks the usage of VPP purchases and allows IT to set up configurable thresholds so that an alert will be sent when, for example, only 10 percent of the tokens remain and it is time to buy more.The App Store Volume Purchase Program encourages businesses to take full advantage of mobile apps.
