Background and Concept

Informatik GmbH is a 100% subsidiary of Porsche Holding Salzburg, employing 450 people at its site. This IT center of excellence develops build-to-order automobile trade software for the wholesale, retail, aftersales, parts, and financial services sectors, with a portfolio of solutions encompassing product and process consultancy, software development, rollout services, training, ASP, and first-and-second-level support.


Objective

The company's next digital workspace project aims to achieve further increases in employee productivity, flexibility, and mobility. It has been pursuing this process in collaboration with MobileIron since 2011, focusing on customers and employees of the Porsche Holding group who will benefit from the various mobility solutions. For example, it is developing digital solutions that will be provided to staff in the form of business apps or web portals, offering a variety of benefits such as enabling digital identification and letting end customers sign their purchase or leasing contracts right on a tablet.


Implementation

As part of its drive towards increased mobility, Porsche Informatik is relying more and more on the MobileIron platform, which it initially used for traditional mobile device management. Currently the emphasis is increasingly being placed on handling mobile applications. The platform also offers secure apps and data transfers, which are a major priority; other important advantages include stability, rapid iOS updates, and easy reconfiguration and management. The system currently manages iOS and Windows-based mobile devices in fourteen countries, and the planned digital workspace will further increase this number in the future.

For many years now, Porsche Informatik has been working with MobileIron partner CANCOM and Solutions in areas ranging from procurement to consulting and service-level agreements. The company has expressed appreciation for the skills and pragmatic approach of its consultants and other employees.
